International Sculpture Symposium of Belpasso “Oro dell’Etna”: art on lava stone with Milla PPE

Simposio internazionale di scultura di Belpasso "Oro dell'Etna"

The 10th edition of the International Sculpture Symposium of Belpasso “Oro dell’Etna” concluded on October 4, 2025, once again transforming the town at the foot of Mount Etna into an open-air museum.

In this extraordinary setting of art and nature, Milla  played a key role as technical sponsor: our respiratory protective equipment (RPE) ensured safety and protection for the sculptors working with lava stone.
A concrete contribution that underlines how essential it is for us to safeguard people’s health in every project and in every context.

The event, dedicated to Antonio Portale, curated by Vittorio Ugo Vicari with artistic direction by Pierluigi Portale and promoted by Municipality of Belpasso together with the Pro Loco and theAcademy of Fine Arts of Catania, took place from September 14 to October 4, 2025, at the F.lli Grasso lava stone quarry..
Three renowned names of contemporary sculpture - Adriano Ciarla, Calogero Arcidiacono and Luigi D’Amico - created new works in basalt lava, offering citizens and visitors the opportunity to experience the magic of artistic creation up close.

Among the works presented were Il Focolare domestico by Arcidiacono and La Fucina dell’Etna by D'Amico, both capable of expressing universal values: from the ecological protection of the planet to the collective memory of the myths tied to the volcano.

The Symposium was born to enhance art, the territory, and the identity of lava basalt, transforming volcanic stone – a symbol of Etna’s strength – into a universal language of beauty and culture.

As technical sponsor of the International Sculpture Symposium of Belpasso, Milla is proud to have supported this international project, promoting not only art and culture but also sicurezza sul lavoro.

Fornendo i nostri dispositivi di protezione individuale, abbiamo contribuito a creare un ambiente sicuro per gli artisti, unendo così creatività, tradizione e tutela della persona.

A heartfelt thanks goes to Prof. Pierluigi Portale for involving us in this experience that celebrates the deep connection between art, lava stone, and memory.
